Here is how to add link to tiktok bio in the app: go to Profile, tap Edit profile, tap Add next to Links, and follow the steps to link your website. The option only shows if you have 1,000 or more followers or a Registered Business Account, per TikTok's help page (checked 22 Oct 2026).
If you'd rather film than edit, upload a raw take and get the first clip cut free, no card.
Under 1,000 followers and no business registration, you won't see the option. The rest of this page covers the steps, why the option goes missing, and what to put in your bio until you qualify.
Steps: how to add link to tiktok bio on your phone
You can only do this from the mobile app. Desktop does not have the option, according to Shopify and Linktree.
- Open TikTok and tap Profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Next to Links, tap Add. Older guides call this field Website. Same thing.
- Follow the steps to link your website and paste your full URL.
- Save, go back to your profile, and tap the link yourself to make sure it opens the right page.
(TikTok's flow as listed on its support page, checked 22 Oct 2026.)
You get one clickable link in your bio. Clickable links in captions and regular posts are not available, per Linktree's guide. If you want viewers to see several things, you can point the one link at a page that lists them, but Shopify reports that TikTok recommends a direct link to your site over a multi-link landing page. A link-in-bio tool is optional.
Why the link option is missing
TikTok's help page (checked 22 Oct 2026) says you can add a website link if you have 1,000 followers or more, or a Registered Business Account. Check two things:
- Your follower count on your profile.
- Whether your account is registered or verified as a business. Switching to a Business account in settings is a separate step.
Sources disagree on that second point. Some link-in-bio guides, including Outfy and Linktree, say any Business account unlocks the link with no follower minimum. TikTok's own page and Shopify (updated Jul 20, 2026) say a Registered or Verified Business Account is what counts below 1,000 followers. Linktree also notes TikTok may ask for proof of business registration. Go with TikTok's wording.
Other fixes to try first:
- Update the TikTok app.
- Use the phone app, not a browser.
- Log out and back in, then open Edit profile again.
Business verification: the route under 1,000 followers
Per the TikTok Business Help Center (updated June 2026, checked 22 Oct 2026):
- Accounts of all types and sizes can apply.
- It is available in listed markets, including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Features vary by market.
- Community Guidelines violations can trigger a 30-day re-verification period.
Shopify (updated Jul 20, 2026) adds that verification is free, you need to be 18 or older, and in the US the document has to come from the IRS and show the EIN and legal business name. The path is Settings and privacy, then Account, then Business verification.
That document requirement is why most solo affiliates without a registered business end up waiting for 1,000 followers instead.
Worked example: what the road to 1,000 costs in editing time
Nobody can promise you a follower count, so this example only adds up your own work. The inputs are yours. Swap in your numbers.
Assume a schedule of 3 talking-head product videos a day, every day.
- 3 videos × 7 days = 21 takes a week
- If you trim each take by hand in 20 minutes: 21 × 20 = 420 minutes
- 420 minutes ÷ 60 = 7 hours a week of editing
- Over 4 weeks: 21 × 4 = 84 takes, and 28 hours of trimming
Here is how that changes with your own trim time:
| Minutes to trim one take | Minutes per week (21 takes) | Hours per week |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 210 | 3.5 |
| 20 | 420 | 7 |
| 30 | 630 | 10.5 |
If that is your week, upload one raw take and get the first clip cut free, no card.
Now the other side of the arithmetic. This is an assumption, not a TikTok payout rate: if your commission rate on a $30 product is 10%, each sale earns $3. At that rate, 10 sales is $30 and 100 sales is $300. Your actual rate depends on the product and your program terms, so check it in your own account. The calculation only shows how hours of editing compare with what one sale could pay at the rate you plug in.
What to do under 1,000 followers
You have three free options that need no clickable link.
- Write a plain-text URL or handle in your bio. Use a short one. Viewers have to type it, so it won't be tappable.
- Say it in the video. Say "link in bio" or read the URL out loud in the take. Pick one and say it the same way every time.
- Use TikTok Shop product tags. Shopify lists product tags as a way to send viewers to a product without a bio link. Check in your app that tagging is available on your account.
Linking Instagram, YouTube or Lemon8
TikTok's support page (checked 22 Oct 2026) notes that linking Lemon8, Instagram and YouTube accounts isn't currently available everywhere. Shopify says TikTok restricts links that open other social media apps. Write those handles as plain text in your bio instead.
Before you post the next batch
Once your link is live, tap it from your own profile once a week to make sure it still opens the right page. While you wait for 1,000 followers, the filming still has to happen. Upload a raw take, get the first clip cut free, no card. More posting-schedule math is in the blog.
