TikTok Creator Rewards for Shop Affiliates: Worked Example

October 22, 2026 · 8 min read

Under the tiktok creator rewards program, TikTok pays for eligible original videos that run at least 1 minute, using qualified views multiplied by an RPM (rate per 1,000 views). Your 45-second Shop clip earns $0 from it, so Shop affiliates need a separate, longer original video to earn anything.

If you film product takes and hate trimming them, upload a raw take and get the first clip cut free, no card needed. The rest of this article shows what the program requires and how one 4-minute take becomes two different videos.

The rules below were checked on Oct 22, 2026. Confirm every rule in TikTok Studio before you plan around it.

What the program pays for

Neal Schaffer's guide lists five RPM inputs: video performance, search value, location, engagement and advertising value. It also describes an Additional Reward for well-crafted, specialised content and cites 1080p or higher with clear visuals as part of that. Nobody outside TikTok can say how much any input moves your RPM.

Who qualifies for the tiktok creator rewards program

According to Creators Agency and Neal Schaffer, you need all of these:

The sources disagree on countries. Neal Schaffer and Creators Agency say TikTok publishes terms for Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the UK and the US. OneStream adds Mexico. Multilogin lists 20+ countries. Open TikTok Studio and see whether the program appears for your account.

Each video also has rules, per Creators Agency and Neal Schaffer:

Where Shop clips fit

Creators Agency says sponsored and paid promotional content is excluded. It advises treating Shop affiliate commission and Creator Rewards as separate, and using the status TikTok Studio shows on each video. Neal Schaffer says brand content and rewards content have to live in separate posts. That is guidance from those guides. Check the status on each of your videos in TikTok Studio.

What counts as a qualified view

Per both guides, a qualified view is a unique view from the For You feed that lasts more than 5 seconds. Paid, promoted or fraudulent views do not count. Neither do views from accounts that marked the video "not interested". Repeat views from one account count once.

What it pays per 1,000 qualified views

TikTok publishes no RPM, according to Neal Schaffer. These are creator-reported ranges, and none are official:

The formula: qualified views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. Creators Agency's example is 600,000 qualified views ÷ 1,000 × $0.72 RPM = $432. Your own RPM shows in your dashboard after you are accepted, and that number is the one to put in the formula.

Worked example: one 4-minute take, two cuts

Say you film a 4:00 raw take of a $30 product. It has dead air, "um"s, three retakes and a spoken slate. All numbers below are illustrative.

Cut A: the 45-second Shop clip

You keep 0:45 of the 4:00. That means 3:15 comes out:

What comes outTime removed
Pauses and dead air1:10
Filler words0:50
Retakes0:55
Spoken slates0:20
Total removed3:15

This clip has a product link, so it is a Shop clip. At 45 seconds it is also under the 1-minute minimum. Creator Rewards pays $0 on it.

Its pay is commission. Assume the seller set a 15% rate. That is $4.50 per sale on a $30 product, and 10 sales is $45. The 15% is an assumption. Check the real rate on the product page, and no sale count is promised.

The editor behind this site cuts pauses, filler words such as "um", retakes, and spoken "Clip N" slates. If you would rather not do that by hand, upload a raw take and the first clip is cut for free, no card required.

Cut B: the 70-second original

This one is a non-sponsored explainer or comparison with no product link and no paid promotion. Say it is "three things I check before buying a [product type]". If 2:50 of a take is dead air, filler, retakes and slates, what is left runs about 1:10. That clears the 1-minute minimum, so it can be eligible in principle.

Do not stretch a short idea to reach 61 seconds. Neal Schaffer warns that padding a 35-second idea hurts completion rate, and completion feeds RPM. Creators Agency says the 1-minute rule is a minimum, so the idea itself has to be longer.

One practical point: this site's editor takes one raw take and returns one cut clip. For two videos, film two takes in the same session. Do the short pitch in one and the longer explainer in the other. If you film one long take covering both, you would have to split it by hand.

The math on cut B

Assume 50,000 qualified views and a hypothetical $0.50 RPM:

50,000 ÷ 1,000 × $0.50 = $25.

That figure is a made-up example. Your views and your RPM will differ, and the video may earn nothing.

A weekly schedule that keeps the two apart

Here is one schedule with 5 Shop clips and 2 originals of at least 1 minute. Raw filming comes to 7 takes × 4 minutes = 28 minutes. For more posting routines, browse the blog.

If you trim each take by hand in 10 minutes (an assumption, time it yourself), that is 70 minutes a week of editing.

How to apply on your phone

  1. Open your profile, tap the menu (☰), then TikTok Studio.
  2. Tap Creator Rewards Program. If it is missing, you probably do not meet a requirement yet.
  3. Read the terms and tap Apply.
  4. Wait. Neal Schaffer and OneStream both say review takes about 3 days.
  5. If you are rejected, Neal Schaffer says you can appeal within 30 days.
  6. After approval, finish identity verification, tax details and payout details.

Payout mechanics

Neal Schaffer and Creators Agency give a $10 minimum (or the local equivalent). Payment comes around the 15th of the following month. Estimated rewards show in the dashboard about 1 to 3 days after views accrue. Multilogin says the minimum is $50. That conflicts, so read your own dashboard. Tax and payout setup must be complete before anything is paid. Neal Schaffer also says rewards already collected can be deducted if a video is later removed for a policy violation.

Get both videos cut today

Before you film, check TikTok Studio for the program and for the status on your last few videos. Then film your Shop takes and your 65 to 75 second originals as separate takes.

A take can be up to 5 minutes and up to 2 GB. You upload it from your camera roll or computer and get back a cut clip. The finished clip is 1080×1920 (vertical 9:16) with sound in sync. The editor does not add captions, music, b-roll, effects or transitions, so add those in TikTok if you want them. Uploaded videos are deleted after 7 days and finished clips after 30 days, so download your clips.

Upload a raw take, get the first clip cut free, no card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I earn from videos I posted before I was accepted?

No. Creators Agency and Neal Schaffer both say only videos posted after acceptance are eligible, so old posts earn nothing.

What if TikTok rejects my application?

Neal Schaffer says you can appeal within 30 days. Check your follower count, your 30-day views and whether your account is Personal, then reapply once you meet each one.

Does a longer video earn a higher RPM?

TikTok publishes no RPM, so no one can promise that. Neal Schaffer says completion rate feeds RPM, and a padded video that people abandon can lower completion.

How soon do I see what a video earned?

Neal Schaffer and Creators Agency say estimated rewards appear in the dashboard about 1 to 3 days after views accrue. Payment arrives around the 15th of the next month if you passed the minimum.

Do Duets, Stitches and slideshows count?

No. Creators Agency and Neal Schaffer list Duets, Stitches, Photo Mode slideshows, looping videos and text-overlay-only posts as excluded.
